The 3 Thrones Concert: A Paradigm Shift In Entertainment

The highly anticipated concert, the 3 Thrones, finally held last week at the Eko hotel and convention centre. That it absolutely was one of its kind concerts would be simply stating the obvious going by how much the organizers needed it to register in the minds of attendees long after it finished. The concept of the concert wasn’t lost on audience members as it was pictured to reenact a couple of scenes from the blockbuster HBO series, ‘Game of Thrones’ that has over the years accumulated a large viewership across the globe as well as being the recipient of over 40 awards over the years.

The story line which is about a family line conflict among competing claimants for succession to the iron throne of seven Kingdoms had several families fighting for this throne.

Headlining the concert were Tiwa Savage as the queen and Phyno and Davido as the kings. There were also energetic performances from Timaya, L.A.X, Dice Ailes, Tjan, Moblow, Dr. Sid, Viktor, Naomi Mac, Pepenazi, Illbliss, Yung6ix and Wale.

Here are snippets from the highly talked about the concert.

The concert stage itself was designed to depict the actual movie set with hefty guards around the stage area dressed as the king’s guards just as it is in the movie.

Dwarfs representing the character, Tryion Lannister were all around the stage area.

One of the epic moments in the series was the infamous walk of shame which was done by the character, Cercei Lannister who had to walk through the town naked in Season 6. That scene was recreated. Many were stunned when a procession stormed the red carpet with a naked woman in tow, covered in paint, while those who encircled her chanted shame! Just the same way it was on the HBO series.

Just as in the series, there was a recreation of colourful graffiti on the stage and while Tiwa Savage performed; a female graffiti artist came on stage, naked from her waist upward, save for the body art which covered her breasts. She went on to do a painting of Tiwa Savage, in continuation of the graffiti paintings.

The concert organizers did not fail to recreate the iron throne which is the bone of contention in the series.

Veteran disk jockey, DJ Jimmy Jatt alongside DJ Neptune were revealed to be the concert’s ‘Guardians’, whereas dancehall sensation, Timaya was the ‘Oracle’.

During the 3 thrones concert, Ycee one of the artistes who performed was crowned by Timaya, ‘The Oracle’ as ‘Rising King’. He was recognized for his immense contribution to the industry within so short a time since joining the industry. He was given a royal artifact to that effect.

There was, however, one side attraction that had nothing to do with the HBO series. During her performance, Tiwa Savage called up singing couple, Tunde and Wunmi Obe to the stage to share the secret of their success in marriage.

The couple, who have been married for 18 years with 3 children, said they operate a personal philosophy of treating others as one wants to be treated. This philosophy, as well as mutual respect, tolerance and having only God as the third party in their marriage, has kept their marriage healthy since they walked down the aisle. Many concluded that it was either Tiwa was planning to take back her ex husband whom she ended things with on social media or she was on the verge of getting tangled to someone else, so the need to get some advice from an experienced couple to avoid any pitfall.
