Want your kidneys to stay healthy? Kindly follow the 5 simple steps below to prevent kidney failure.
- EAT LESS SALT
Excessive salt intake gives the kidneys an overload of work. Reduce your salt intake.
- DON’T HOLD YOUR URINE
When nature calls, sometimes we don’t answer it. Use the toilet if you want to “Pee” Don’t hold it in. Don’t act the boss. Find a bathroom and use it. Delaying can result in urinary tract infection which can track back to hurt the kidneys!
- REDUCE YOUR PROTEIN CONSUMPTION
This applies to people who especially eat a lot of meat. The breakdown product of meat and other proteins can be toxic to the kidneys. Moderate your protein intake: not too little, not too much.
- DRINK A LOT OF WATER
The kidney is responsible for clearing toxins from the body by making urine. Water dilutes these toxins. Too little water will make the urine concentrated and cause damage to the kidneys.
- AVOID DRUG ABUSE/HERBAL CONCOCTIONS
Too many people abuse drugs these days. From pain painkillers to roadside herbal concoctions that claim to cure Staph or HIV infections; we must be mindful of what we toss in our mouths. The kidneys bear the brunt and with overuse or exposure to harmful substances, can fail.
