La Liga’s Title In Barca’s Hands – Luis Suarez

After scoring 4 goals and provided 3 assists as Barcelona roared back to form with a 8-0 thrashing of Deportivo La Coruna in midweek, Luis Suarez has refused to consider any other outcome than Barca retaining their La Liga title.

The Catalan giants Atletico Madrid lead only thanks to their superior record head-to-head with Real Madrid just one point back in third place with 4 games remaining.

However, after taking only one point from their last four league games, Suarez believes Barca are fully back on track for a title 24 of La Liga.

“We needed that victory. We arrived at the back of many games that suffer and as we are human beings, the defeats hurt, “he said.

“It is in our hands and if we win all our games that others do not bother us. The normal thing would be that none of us slip up.

“We are leaders and we are confident that we will win. We plan other than to win anything.”

Lionel Messi and Neymar were also the target against Deportivo in stars of the Barca front three responded in style to their critics as fatigue seemed to catch up with the South American trio last month after an extremely demanding Barça season participated six competitions.

Suarez reserved special words of support to Neymar, whose performance and attitude off-field had been the target of particular criticism during Barcelona’s slump.

“It hurts that people put the responsibility on him to defeat. He is a boy with feelings and he is my friend,” said the Uruguayan.“We all try to support each other. It shows by his attitude he will not give up.”

Barca will be back to full strength for the visit of Sporting Gijon side battle to avoid relegation at the bottom of the table on Saturday with Gerard Pique back from suspension in central defense.
