61-year-old Jonkin Chibuzor was arraigned for killing a DSS officer, kidnapping his wife, two children and sister-in-law.
A suspected leader of a kidnap gang in Rivers State, Jonkin Nkwuozor, was on Friday arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court, for allegedly killing an operative of the DSS, Reuben Uzoma, and kidnapping his wife, two children and sister-in-law.
Nkwuozor was said to have carried out the act in company with two other gang members, Mike Ogu and Okechukwu Onyegbosi on November 16, 2016, on the Ngor-Okpala-Etche road in Etche LGA of Rivers State.
Nkwuozor and the two others were charged to court on eight counts, which included the murder of a DSS official. It was gathered that the accused persons later freed the wife, children and sister-in-law of the DSS operative after killing the officer.
The kidnap gang members were later apprehended by the DSS operatives when they tried to sell the Toyota Venza car belonging to the deceased. A source said Uzoma had earlier shot and killed two members of the kidnap gang when they attempted to stop him.
Unknown to him, one of the kidnappers was coming behind him and he was shot with a pump action gun.
