The Nigeria National Team, Super Eagles, have jumped 3 places up to the 64th position in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday, 15 by the world football governing body.
Gernot Rohr’s men were ranked 67th in August ranking but improved with few weeks to the commencement of the FIFA 2018 world cup qualifiers.
With this Ranking, Nigeria is 14th in Africa ahead of countries like Burkina Faso and Uganda who ranked 68th, 65th in the World and 16th, 15th in Africa respectively.
Even at this move, the Super Eagles are still behind Algeria, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Ghana, Egypt, Congo, Mali, Congo DR Morocco, Cameroon, Guinea and South Africa on the continent.
Cote d’Ivoire who ranked 34th in World overthrew Algeria from the number 1 position in Africa.
Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers opponents moved downward and are ranked thus: Zambia (92 -1) Cameroon (59 -5) and Algeria (35 -3).
Argentina still remains at 1st position, whereas Belgium, Germany and Colombia occupy the 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.
